What does online check-in mean?

Airlines allow their passengers to check in between 12, 24 or up to 72 hours previous to the scheduled departure time. By checking in, passengers confirm to the airline that the flight is intended to be taken. Furthermore, many airlines enable their passengers to choose their preferred seats during online check-in, as well as sometimes the booking of additional services such as plane meals or additional pieces of luggage. Such extra services are available for purchase to our Frequent Flyer and VIP subscribers.

An online check-in can be done by passengers by providing the required personal details during online registration. Upon completion of the check-in, the airline issues the boarding pass(es) via email or for download. With 1Checkin, you can get all boarding passes within one single app, ready at the click of a button.

Why 1Checkin, and how does it work?

Step 1. Forward your booking confirmation to flights@1check.in. The booking information will be retrieved and displayed as upcoming flight. Planned check-in time will be displayed on the flight card. You will notice that in many cases the check-in happens at really inconvenient times!

Step 2. A passenger profile will be created for you based on the information of the booking you forwarded.

Step 3. Adjust your seat preferences if you have not done so yet. Upon availability of seats free seats, your chances are big that you will get your preferred seating position in the plane. 1Checkin Frequent Flyer and VIP subscribers will have the opportunity to receive the seatmap upon check-in, or upgrade their seats directly within the app. Furthermore, premium subscribers can make use of the automated seat-upgrades function.

Step 4. Your check-in will automatically start as soon as check-in is opened by the airline.

Step 5. Get your boarding pass. Your boarding pass will be available to view and ready to be scanned conveniently from the app.

1Checkin is great. It saves you time, you create your account and provide the necessary data just once, no need to ever type it in on any airline webpage or app ever again. You can have people you are flying with checked-in as well, and upon availability, you will be seated together.

Can I check-in other passengers or travel companions?

You can check-in anybody using the 1Checkin app. If the booking confirmation you foprwarded contains multiple passengers, you will all be checked-in together. Don´t forget to set your seat preferences for multiple passengers.

In case of separate bookings, you can have your friends or colleagues forward their booking confirmations to your Personal Checkin email address, that way, their flights will appear within the upcoming flights section, and chances are you can be seated together

How much does it cost?

The service is free for a limited number of check-ins on a monthly basis. If you fly more frequently, we recommend to purchase additional check-ins within the app. 1Checkin premium subscribers benefit from an unlimited number of check-ins and passengers. Don´t forget, time is money, and 1Checkin definitely saves you valuable time that you can use for more important things! You can check out

What about my personal details?

We operate and store any personal passenger information on certified secured servers, and act in accordance to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can delete your account at any time within the app, that way, all your information will permanently deleted. You can further consult our privacy policy.

Entering my passport data

Entering and therefore providing your passport or visa number may be required in order to have you checked-in for a certain flight. No worries, we operate and store any personal passenger information on certified secured servers, and act in accordance to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Which airlines are supported by the app?

1Checkin works for every airline that offers online check-in to their passengers, therefore, our service covers all major routes on over 240 airlines worldwide.

How to recognise your booking reference (PNR) on your booking confirmation.

The booking reference usually consists of a combination of 5-6 letters/digits. If you book your ticket via a travel agency or online travel agency, the confirmation code is usually the same. You can find an indication about the airline next to the booking reference.

The system says that I provided the wrong booking reference (number). What should I do?

Make sure that you entered the booking reference/number. The booking reference or booking number (PNR) is a combination of 6 capital letters and numbers. They happen rather rarely, but there are booking references issued sometimes consisting of 5 or 7 characters (e.g. EasyJet).

Check if there are any other numbers on the ticket. Travel agencies usually issue tickets through global agencies, therefore sometimes there are two or even three booking numbers on tickets. To check-in via 1Checkin, the following options are suitable: Booking reference of the airline. Usually the name of the company or the "airline code" is written nearby. Global agency reference number. Nearby written may be the name of one out of four such agencies: Amadeus, Galileo, Saber, Sirena-travel.

If you do not want to deal with all those numbers, just forward your booking confirmation to fligths@1check.in and the system will select the correct number automatically.

Start the check-in again. You can do that within the app by selecting the flight you want to check-in. There you can change the booking reference.

If you only see a travel agent's booking number on the ticket, then contact the agency about the booking reference for online registration. If you fly on a charter flight, then, perhaps, a ticket for the plane on which you can check-in for the flight will be sent to you 1 to 2 days before departure.

What is the difference between booking reference (PNR) and electronic ticket number?

The booking reference or PNR is usually a combination of 6 capital letters and numbers. It is rare to find it with five (S7) or seven (EasyJet) characters.

On the other hand, the number of the electronic ticket (e-ticket number) consists of 13 digits. The first three figures are often separated, because they designate the airline code. The last one or two digits always refer to the passenger. This is the big difference compared to the booking reference number: The booking reference can act for numerous passengers if you bought the ticket together. Therefore, if you check-in via 1Checkin, we recommend to always enter e-tickets for all the passengers you want to check-in.

We recommend to always enter the e-ticket numbers for all passengers you want to check-in. Example of an electronic ticket number: 016-1246781231.

Is it enough to enter just one e-ticket number for several passengers?

No. The electronic ticket number is individual for each passenger, even if you bought the ticket together. In order to register several passengers, you have to provide each passenger’s electronic ticket numbers.

The Check-in Process

When do I get checked-in?

Every airline opens online check-in between 12 and 72 hours prior to departure. Our system checks you in as soon as online check-in opens at the respective airline, and you will be able to see scheduled check-in time on your upcoming flight cards. Thanks to our system, you will be one of the first/the first passenger to be checked-in, which increases the chance to get your preferred seat.

You can also reschedule a check-in to a preferred point in time, in case you want to make use of the seat map feature and choose or upgrade seats manually and conveniently within the app. This is specifically convenient for check-ins that would usually be processed late at night or very early in the morning.

What about my Frequent Flyer Program numbers?

You can add your Frequent Flyer Program numbers (FFPN) to your passenger information. In case the airline requests the number upon check-in, it will be provided. You can add multiple loyalty program numbers.

Please note that often your FFPN is required during your flight booking process already, in that case, it cannot be added to the check-in process.

You can add Frequent Flyer Program numbers of your travel companions to their passenger information in the passengers section within the app.

How does the seat preferences feature work?

Using the 1Checkin automated check-in service will spare you the annoying online check-in process and even consider your personal seat preferences. In the seat preferences section within the app, you can choose your preferred seat preferences, for example: In front and near the window. Furthermore you can set seating strategies, in case your first preference is not available, the system will consider your second preference, and so on. You can set seat preferences by default for multiple numbers of passengers, so in case you travel with your family, e.g. all four of you can be seated in one row together (upon availability of course).

Being a Frequent Flyer or VIP subscriber has its perks when it comes to seat preferences. The “Seat tracker” feature lets you request the seat map of your upcoming flight, so you can choose seats manually yourself, and upgrade in case you prefer a certain seat which is not available for free. No need to go to the airline’s website to manage your booking or enter credit card details over and over again. Link your credit card, and complete your purchases conveniently within the app, it will save you time and makes flying so much easier!

Always want to get your preferred seat? With the “Automated seat upgrades” feature available for Frequent Flyer and VIP subscribers, you will be able to set a spending threshold to be applied in case your favorite seat is not available for free. In that case, the system will consider the spending limit, and purchase your favorite seat automatically for you (subject to availability).

Once You Are Checked In

Getting the boarding pass

Once you are checked in your boarding pass will be available within the app, directly for download on the respective flight card within the upcoming flights section.

What about mobile boarding pass for wallet apps?

We are in the process of implementing this feature, we will announce it once completed.

Can I reverse the check-in once it’s completed?

It depends upon availability of this feature provided by the airline. Please check the airline’s website for more information.

Can I change my seat once check-in is completed?

Yes, you may change your seat assignment once you are checked-in, in case the respective airline makes this feature available. It depends, many airlines do not let you change your seat once you are checked-in.

1Checkin Frequent Flyer and VIP subscribers may make use of the “Seat tracker” feature for changing or upgrade assigned seats.

What if I want to change the flight, or cancel my booking?

In order to change or cancel your flight, you need to consider your booking, and the allowances regarding flight changes/cancellations by the respective airline. This process usually has nothing to do with the check-in process.

What if I have checked luggage?

You can still use 1Checkin for completing your online check-ins conveniently and automatically. As for your luggage, simply drop it off at the check-in counter, as you would usually do. Please note that some airlines may charge you a penalty fee if you show up at the check-in counter for dropping off your luggage, without having checked-in online beforehand!

Some airports may also feature so-called “self baggage drop off counters”, in that case, simply scan your boarding pass or enter your booking details (available within the app in one tap) and have your baggage label printed.

How do I purchase a subscription?

You can purchase a subscription or upgrade to a higher subscription plan either on our website or conveniently within the app.

How can I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription in iTunes or Play Market if you purchased it in our mobile app. If you purchased your subscription on our website, please write to support@1check.in or remove linked credit card from your profile.

How does the Seat tracker feature work?

Flight compensation, how does it work?

We have a partnership with one of the best providers of flight refund services on the market, ClaimCompass. Due to our cooperation with claim compass, the special rate of 25% applies for successfully processed claims. You can claim back up to 600 EUR from an airline in case your flight was delayed or got cancelled. One single successfully claimed compensation might pay for even more than just your yearly 1Checkin premium subscription.

Flight-tax compensation claim, how does it work?

In case you missed your flight, you might be eligible for compensation of the so-called “air passenger duty” tax. This feature is only available for 1Checkin VIP subscribers. Please note that sometimes airlines impose a processing fee higher than the original tax to be refunded, in that case, it might make sense to just drop the request for compensation.

What extra services are available through the extra services feature?

Depending on your flight and airline, a set of additional services like extra luggage or in-flight amenities (such as special meals for pre-order) might be available. Request luggage allowance and add an additional piece of luggage to your flight, or check the conditions for boarding class upgrades. All conveniently within one app. Simply scan through the extra services available on the respective flight card, and enjoy an enhanced travel experience!

How does the transfer service feature work?

This feature is only available to 1Checkin VIP subscribers. You will be chatting with the AI 1Checkin travel assistant within the app, and you can inquire about pricing and details about a transfer from or to the airport that you might need to be scheduled and booked for you!

How does the change flight feature work?

This feature is only available to 1Checkin VIP subscribers. You will be chatting with the AI 1Checkin travel assistant within the app, and you can inquire about pricing and details about a change/rebooking of your flight, or the alternatives in case you need to book an additional flght.

Check-in balance

Check-in balance - what is it?

The check-in balance displays how many check-ins you currently have available. When you forward a booking and your check-in get’s scheduled, one check-in will be reserved on your balance for that upcoming flight, and shown as “currently scheduled”. Once you receive your boarding pass, the check-in will be deducted from your balance. Only successfully processed check-ins count. Every month there will be one free check-in credited to your balance automatically, if you got checked-in via 1Checkin in the previous month. You can at all times choose from different check-in packages. They are available in the app via in-app purchase or via credit card on your 1Checkin desktop account. Please note that you get a 25% discount when purchasing check-ins through your web account!
